1. How do we begin Paper to CAD conversion?
Give us a call or contact us through email and let us know what you need. You can either send paper copies, we could have a courier over to your office and have your paper documents picked up or email/FTP scans of your drawings. For email or FTP, the sheets should be scanned at 200 dpi and saved as TIF or PDF format. Also, send a completed CAD Masters Order Form with your drawings.

2. What types of drawings can you convert to CAD?
We convert all types of commercial and residential drawings: architectural, engineering, maps, construction documents, utility plans, etc. We will redraw everything on your sheet unless you have noted otherwise. Our default setup is: AIA Layering (American Institute of Architects); Roman S font, and stacked fraction dimensions. If you have your own in-house layering standards, fonts, dimension styles, provide this data for your project.

3. What is the Paper to CAD conversion process?
All sheets are redrawn by hand , full scale 1:1, layered CAD files. The CAD files will be completed within the turnaround time you have selected. We do not auto-vectorize your sheets. They are intelligent CAD files.

4. How long does it take to get my paper drawings converted to CAD files?
You select the turnaround time based on your project schedule requirements. Our turnaround options are: overnight, 3-business days, 5-business days, 10-business days, or 4-6 weeks. You can also specify that particular sheets be converted using different turnaround schedules. The price per sheet is based on the turnaround time selected.

5. How much does it cost?
We offer a fixed price per sheet based on the turnaround time you have selected. The price is the same for any sheet content, density, or size: C-size (18 x 24), D-size (24 x 36); E-size (30 x 42) at 1/8" or 1/4" scale. We have size adjusted prices for A-size and B-size drawings.

6. How are CAD conversion projects performed?
Maintaining traditional paper-based documents are expensive and time-consuming tasks. Paper documents that are manually updated can be cost effectively converted to electronic vector files. In methods like vectorizing even the unwanted marks will be converted to vector format which results in large file size. We employ a unique method by redrawing the whole image sent to us. This allows the drawings to be in scale and achieve a level of high accuracy and reduce the file size.

Step1.Upon receiving the input data from client (By email, FTP, Scanned documents, CD, DVD etc), CAD Masters conducts a detailed requirement analysis by instant messenger chat, email or phone calls to get the details. We will then provide our quote with lead time per our Paper to cad pricing model.

Step2.Upon getting the approval, purchase order and time schedule from you, we create a draft and submit it for your review. Any design modification can be suggested at this stage.

Step3.Once the draft is approved, we will be proceeding with the rest of the job and the files will be send to you after undergoing quality checking by our QC department.

Step4.The finishing touches incorporating all updates are done in this stage and the final set of files is submitted.

Step5.By ensuring that the project is up to your expectation, we will be sending the final bill.

7. Can I provide my existing CAD backgrounds, fonts, etc?
Yes, we will use your existing CAD background files, such as architectural, to overlay mechanical, electrical, or plumbing objects. Make sure you include all xrefs and fonts attached to your CAD background file. Please also indicate how you would like for CAD Masters to use your background file, such as: 1) overlay the new data onto the existing CAD background, 2) reference CAD background for layers, line styles, fonts only, 3) reference CAD background for dimensions. The AutoCAD "eTransmit" command is recommended to attach all of the necessary xref and font files. The "View Report" button will list all files associated with your existing CAD file.

8. How much does it cost for an 24"x36" sheet to be scanned (converted) to AutoCAD?
We offer a fixed price per sheet based on the turnaround time you have selected. The price is the same for any sheet content, density, or size: C-size (18 x 24), D-size (24 x 36); E-size (30 x 42) at 1/8" or 1/4" scale. We have size adjusted prices for A-size and B-size drawings.

9. Can I change the turnaround schedule after the project has started?
Yes and No. You can move a turnaround schedule up, but not down. For example, you can change a 10-day turnaround to a 3-day turnaround. The new completion date is based on the date on which the schedule change is requested. The price will be adjusted based on the new turnaround option.

10. What is the turnaround time for a typical set of drawings to be converted?
Most cases we can return a project upon request...we make sure we can meet the deadline before we accept the job.

11. Who is the owner of the CAD files?
You are the owner of the CAD files. CAD Masters simply provides CAD drafting services. We redraw your sheets exactly as shown. We keep backup copies of your CAD files in our archives. If you need replacement files, simply call and we will retrieve your files from our backups.

12. Can I mail or courier the paper originals?
Yes, you can mail or courier your paper originals/copies to our office.

13. Does CAD Masters provide drafting, design or engineering services?
Yes, we do provide design or engineering services. See our CAD Drafting, CAD Design or Engineering service pages for details.

14. Do you follow your own CAD standards or those, which we prescribe?
We set up CAD standards per A.I.A. layering standards or customized layering based on details furnished by you.

15. Will my CAD files always be consistent throughout multiple project submissions?
Yes, we create a "profile" for your company or for each project type. Each time you submit a new project, we will refer to your profile as related to layering standards, fonts, dimensions, etc. This will ensure consistency throughout your projects.

16. What are the payment terms?
Payment Options:

Check:
Make checks payable to CAD Masters, Inc. Checks will be deposited when the CAD drafting project is complete. First time customers must provide a check for their initial CAD order.

Purchase Order:
A purchase order number or project number can be supplied for Net 30 billing accounts. Net 30 billing accounts must have a CAD Masters, Inc. pre-approval. (Download: CAD Masters, Inc. Credit Application)

17. Do your drafters have experience with my type of project?
Yes, our CAD operators are organized into multiple departments: civil, architectural, electrical, mechanical, structural, plumbing, utilities, mapping, etc. We review your sheets and assign your project to the appropriate CAD department.

18. Can you handle redline markups?
Yes, simply provide your plotted redline markup sheets or provide COLOR scans of the redline sheets. Markup your sheets as follows: RED ink = drawing changes; GREEN ink = remove from drawing file;BLUE ink = notes to our CAD operators. For sheets that have already been redrawn by CAD Masters that require additional redline changes, the fee is $50/sheet (5-day turnaround). For existing as-built sheets with redline markups, the fee is based on our "Construction Docs" pricing.

19. Do you have Civil Design experience?
We have a wide range of Civil design experience. The following are typical jobs we perform:

Design, create and edit construction documents in commercial and residential projects, including plat plans, grading plans, paving plans, water and sewer plan and profiles, terrain modeling, volume calculations, horizontal and vertical roadway design, annotation, surface contours and 3-D modeling. Review and edit construction drawings per city comments. Check and review designer/drafters work. Design per MAG standards, YAG standards and most other city and state standards.

20. Can you create a floorplan using my electrical or mechanical sheets?
Yes, we can create a new floorplan sheet using existing electrical or mechanical sheets. Typically, we will need to know a grid dimension or overall building dimension. The remaining architectural background dimensions will be scaled during our drafting process. The electrical or mechanical information will be omitted from the final CAD floor plan.

21. Can you come by my office and give me an estimate on my project?
Yes, we can stop by anytime during the day to give you a no obligation estimate on any of our services. Just give us a call or email us and we will schedule meeting time.
